Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, only few kilometers from the Italian mainland separately,
is called also the bridge between two worlds. Certainly to many known from the film "the godfather", Sicily offers
to its visitors much more than only a few scenes of the mentioned film, because a journey to Sicily is also a journey
in space and time.
The variety of the landscape goes from dried up regions over sumptuous vegetation such as Orange
groves, cypresses, almond trees and palms. The coast is surrounded by small pictorial harbour towns and a multiplicity
of charmful ravines. They find here in addition, chaotic metropolises beside small baroque towns. Not to forget, the
many small islands before Sicily, which possess all their completely own character.

Very typically for South Italy, in particular for Sicily, is the lemon
liqueur "Il Limoncello". The Sicilian produce
it largely themselves, because you will find a lemon tree in each garden.
The recipe:
Take the peelings of 8 medium sized and untreated lemons and put it in 500 ml 90% alcohol for approx. 10 days.
Please agitate the whole once on the day. Afterwards the alcohol is filled up with 750 ml cooked water and 300
gr sugars. Now you let still it for two weeks. Very important: The Limoncello is served very coldly in small
liqueur glasses.
