The village Roccagloriosa, only a few kilometres apart from the Cilento coast, lies in intact nature
in the heart of the national park. The small village, surrounded by olive groves offers a marvellous
view on the sea and the two mountains Monte Bulgheria and Monte Cervati.
Above the village there is enthroned the ruin of the ancient castle, built in the late antiquity by Narses,
general of the East-Roman emperor Justinian. In the archaeological excavation site there are graves
of the Lucans and ruins of a village from the 4. cent. BC.
This calm village is a good starting point for walking tours to the Macchia and up to the Monte Bulgheria
or Monte Cervati. For bathing small beaches and bays (gravel and sandy) in Policastro and marvellous
sandy beaches near Marina di Camerota and Palinuro are advisable.
In Sapri, Marina di Camerota and Scaria invites a Lungomare to rambling. A boat trip along the beautiful
coast is advisable. Daily trips e.g. to Maratea, Velia, Paestum oder Pompeii are also possible.
In the small lanes of the villages are small shops, a butchery, groceries, bank and pharmacy.
For extensive shopping the village Sapri is recommendable.
