Apulia,
in the east of Southern Italy, between the Adrian and the Ionic sea offers on the one hand the turquoise
coloured sea, grottos and bays, white beaches, to the other a huge number of cultural treasures. The Trulli,
white round farmhouses with sharp skew roofs are quite typical. The Salento is certainly one of the best known
areas of Apulia and is also called Italian Greece. Enjoy the quite special hospitableness people in Puglia.
The
Basilicata,
a predominantly hilly and mountainous region offers an extremely varied vegetation. The largest national
park of Italy, which applies about the Basilicata and Calabria offers a protected living space to numerous
animals and plants and is ideal for hiking and cycling. The small coast segment of the Basilicata is as
beautiful as the gulf of Policastro at the Tyrrhenian Sea, with its fine sand beaches, clear water and
lonely bays. The Basilicata is an insiders' tip for nature lovers.
Certainly Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was one of the best-known visitors and lovers of
Campania..
Come to see the land in that the lemons are in blossom. Enjoy the turquoise coloured sea, long sand beaches,
mysterious grottos, as well as the wonderful hinterland with olive groves, chestnut forests
and traditional mountain villages.
The
Nationalparc Cilento
is a still nearly unknown landscape at the Tyrrhenian Sea, abound in culture
and history, one thinks there of the philosopher's school
Velia, the Sarazenen towers which line the coast and the temples of Paestum.
Parco Nazionale del Cilento e del Vallo di Diano extends over more than 170,000
ha and permits only a gentle tourism. You will look here in vain for mass tourism, large club
structures etc..
The region
Calabria,
which unites mountains and sea, offers with its intact nature, weird steep coasts, picturesque bays
with fantastic sand beaches, pretty small coast towns, its various hinterland and the stony legacies
of an old history of civilisation more than the classical bath vacation. Stroll on the traces of the
past or hike through the fragrantly forests and landscapes.
Lazio
is a region in central Italy that borders on Tuscany in the north and Campania in the south. A thin stretch of coast
in the south-west turns into a hilly landscape towards the north. Lazio is, due to the capital Rome, where there is
the government’s seat and the Father of the Church, probably the most-known Italian region.
Sicily,
the largest island in the Mediterranean, separated only few
kilometres from the Italian mainland, is called also the bridge between two worlds. Sicily is ideal for
hiker and cyclists. The variety of landscape reaches from dried up regions to luxuriant
vegetation like orange groves, cypresses, almond trees and palms. The coast is
surrounded by pictorial small seaports and a multiplicity of charmful ravines. Sicily offers diverse
possibilities and interesting destinations to spend an unforgettable vacation.
